Hind Matar is a stylist based in New York City. Born in Bahrain, she studied at both Central Saint Martins and the University of Virginia. She has styled short films for Vice, Nowness, and Vivienne Westwood starring Chloe Sevigny, Jonny Knoxville, Matthew Gray Gubler and Sophie Kennedy Clark and Interpol’s recent music video “If You Really Love Nothing” starring Kristen Stewart and Finn Wittrock.

She started her career in fashion as the Founder and Creative Director of MATAR, a womenswear brand that launched during Spring/Summer 2014 at London Fashion Week. Born into one of the leading natural pearl merchant families in the Middle East, she expanded her brand vision to include a fine jewelry collection, which launched in September 2017 during New York Fashion Week at an event hosted by Italian Vogue and 1stdibs.

In 2015 Hind was commissioned by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities to design a capsule collection for the Bahrain Pavilion at the Milan Expo which won Silver Medal for best Pavilion Design. That same year Hind was also the winner of the Cadillac Design Challenge Fashion Prize organized by Farfetch and Dubai Design and Fashion Council. The award merits innovation and celebrates leading womenswear designers from the Middle East. She has been nominated for the Woolmark Prize in 2017 and has been invited to participate in Amman Design Week 2019.

Hind’s work has been featured in Italian Vogue, The Business of Fashion, Paper Magazine, In Style UK, Tank, On The Rocks, German Glamour, Off Black, Harper’s Bazaar Arabia & Asharq Alawsat.
